Off the Beaten Path
For those looking to get off the beaten path
Adventure Description
An adventure for those seeking something a little different, this tour leaves Banff for the day to visit two other lesser known but equally as beautiful National Parks. Our first stop of the day takes us to Yoho National Park in British Columbia. With a quick stop at Natural Bridge, experience a stunning rock formation demonstrating the incredible power of water. Continue on to Emerald Lake, referred to as the “Gem of the Rockies.” Rent a canoe, or stroll through the grounds of the historic Emerald Lake Lodge. Ask your guide about our favourite hidden viewpoint! After the lake, we will head up a winding road through a breathtaking mountain valley. At the end of the road lies Takkakaw Falls, the tallest waterfall in the Canadian Rockies and one of the most breathtaking sights to see. The falls can be viewed from the picnic area, or a short hike will take you close enough to feel the mist of the falls on your face. It’s time for another new National Park, the lesser known Kootenay National Park. Here, enjoy a short hike through the beautiful Marble Canyon, with bridges crisscrossing over beautifully marbled rock, each one giving its own unique view into the canyon and the rushing water below. At the end of the hike there is a waterfall that is constantly cutting its way into the rock it rushes over. This adventure is great for an active group, or for those who want to escape the crowds found in Banff. Each hike is around 1km with minimal elevation, and we’re happy to provide hiking poles if needed.
