An Adventure for all the Waterfall Chasers out there

This is for those that aren't afraid to chase waterfalls, especially the frozen ones.
Join us for an exploration of 2 of Banff's best winter hikes.

The Frozen Falls Winter Adventure

Embark on an epic journey of ancient rock and icy water, and discover the intense changes brought on by a winter in the Rockies.

Winter in Banff might be cold, but that's no excuse to stay inside! There's no better way to warm up than by hiking, especially when it ends in frozen waterfalls and hot drinks!

We will start our journey on the Bow Valley Parkway, a scenic highway through a wildlife corridor. Our first stop is the famous Johnston Canyon, where your guide will provide ice cleats if needed to begin our adventure. The trail twists and turns along the wall of an ancient canyon, ending with a tunnel to the breathtaking Johnston Canyon lower falls. For anyone craving more, you have the option to venture on to the Upper Falls (5.5km, 274m) / (2.3km, 105m)

Our adventure continues into Kootenay National Park in British Columbia, to Marble Canyon. This hike provides a different perspective of the wonders of water as you peer over numerous bridges into the dizzyingly deep canyon below.

(1.4km, 50m)

What will the day look like? (5-6 hours)

Johnston Canyon - 90-120 minutes

This is one of Banff's most famous trails, and for good reason! Like many areas in Banff, it can get a bit crowded in the summer, which among other reasons, makes winter the perfect time to try it! Ice cleats will be provided if required, and you may hike to the upper viewpoint if you would like but unfortunately we cannot guide you beyond the lower falls!

Marble Canyon - 75 minutes

This ancient slot canyon is located in a lesser know area of the Rockies called Kootenay National Park. It's under the radar status makes it a favourite of ours in the summer months, but the winter can be even more beautiful! Bridges cross over the canyon allowing you to peer over a hundred feet into the frozen depths below, and at the top, a frozen waterfall, What more could you want!
